Biography
I was born here and have lived here all my life except for three years at university. I grew up in the North, Castel and St. Andrew's before moving into St. Peter Port in 2011. The island is very important to me.
To give you a brief career history, I have several years’ experience in:
-
Food Retail
-
Administration
-
Charity work
I returned to the Finance sector 6 months ago and am still there.
I believe there are synergies between these sectors and parish work, particularly
-
customer service
-
managing costs
-
liaising with people from all walks of life
-
working collaboratively for the common good
I have been an active member of the autism community here for many years, from working with young adults on the spectrum in a charity shop to attending and speaking at conferences to running 3 peer groups locally. My latest projects are setting up a charity to facilitate the attendance of local autistic adults at community-led conferences and an autism-friendly dating service but finding suitable and committed volunteers in the current climate is very difficult.
The Douzaine has made some positive strides in the past year but I think the best is yet to come. I have some ideas as to how the Douzaine can better serve the community, be more engaging and be more cost-effective but I am a newbie with a lot to learn.
I stand for
-
equality
-
fairness
-
drive
-
relevance
And I believe my track record backs this up.
